Tips for attending TravCon
With such a big conference comes many different activities, sessions, workshops, and social gatherings. This has the potential to overwhelm some, and that’s why we came up with a list of helpful tips you should consider when attending TravCon.
Plan your schedule
Since there’s a lot to see and do at TravCon, it’s best to make your own schedule of every session or event you want to attend. By prioritizing the activities you want to take part in, you won’t miss anything you came for.
Bring business cards
When connecting with recruiters and agencies, having a business card is a great way to show them you’re serious about networking opportunities. Coming prepared never failed anyone, so don’t miss out on the chance to get your name out there.
Pack light
Those who are flying to the conference will especially want to pack light. The many booths you visit will be handing out swag and other merchandise that you will definitely want to take home with you. So, packing lightly is your best bet if you plan on bringing back all your goodies.
Don't forget to check out the exhibit hall
Don’t forget to visit the exhibit hall that houses all of the said booths. In the exhibit hall, you’ll be able to collect swag, network with recruiters and other professionals, and collect resources you might need.
Pack appropriately
Not only will you want to pack lightly, but you should also pack logistically. Make no mistake, TravCon will have you on your feet for some time. Wear comfortable shoes you can walk in throughout the entire day. You should also pack according to the events you want to attend, like taking active wear for yoga, and so on.
Take advantage of the CEUs
This is a great chance to earn some continuing education units, so be sure to take advantage of it. You can even gain other certifications while you’re at it!
Bring a tote bag
With all the swag you’ll be collecting, you’re going to want somewhere to store it. You’ll also want to bring a notebook, pen, water bottle, and business cards with you.
Take notes
Don’t forget to jot down some notes when attending sessions, workshops, educational speakers, and CEUs.
Put yourself out there
Making the most out of your TravCon experience means you don’t want to hold back from chances to meet new people. Networking opportunities don’t come along every day, so be yourself and don’t hesitate to make friends with other travel healthcare workers.
Have set goals
The best way to go into the conference is to know what you want to get out of it. Are you trying to meet new people? Or maybe you want to advance your career with CEUs and certifications? No matter your goal, just be sure to have one, even if it’s just to have fun!
Follow up after the conference
Once TravCon is over, make sure you follow up with the connections you made. This will show them you’re interested and want to take the next step forward. A thoughtful message or quick check-in can quickly become a career opportunity.
