What is a registered nurse?
A registered nurse is a licensed healthcare professional who provides patient care, education and support in various medical settings. RNs work with doctors, other nursing professionals, such as certified nursing assistants and licensed nursing practitioners, and support staff in a range of care facilities.
What qualifications do I need as a registered nurse?
To become an RN, you typically need to complete an accredited nursing program, such as:
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN)
- Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN)
After completing your education, you must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain your nursing license. Some states may have specific requirements, such as background checks or continuing education credits.
