LPN and LVN FAQs
What is a licensed practical nurse?
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is a healthcare professional who is responsible for providing care to patients who often are sick or injured. An LPN assists and is supervised by registered nurses and physicians.
What qualifications do I need as an LPN?
To become an LPN, you will need to complete a nursing program that is accredited and approved by your state. These programs typically take a year to complete and are followed by the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Once you pass the exam, you’ll obtain your license, and you can then start to apply for LPN jobs. Depending on the state you work in, you may also need to pass a background check and complete continuing education requirements to maintain your license.
