Travel Nurse of the Month

Traveler of the Month – November 2019

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a travel nurse? Each month, we will feature a new Traveler of the Month who was selected by one of our recruiters.

Meet our November Traveler of the Month, Francis!

When did you become a nurse and why?

I became a nurse because when my grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, my life turned upside down. I was right by her side until she passed away two years ago. From then on, I realized that helping people and caring for them in their time of need was the best path that I could ever take. I love my career as a nurse and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What made you go into travel nursing?

I love meeting new people and expanding my horizons. I’m known as a risk taker in my family and I’ve always loved traveling, whether it’s for work or for vacation. I’m the person who never likes to settle.

What has been your favorite location for travel nursing so far and why?

So far I love traveling to North Creek, NY. There are plenty of outdoor activities which I love to do on my time off. I would like to travel to Vermont in the near future too.

What is your favorite thing about travel nursing?

I love meeting new people and learning about the patients that I care for in each area. I’m a people person and I enjoy hearing the stories they tell me when I work with them.

What advice can you give others who are interested in travel nursing?

If I could say one thing to my fellow travel nurses who are interested in this line of work, it would be this: Try to be versatile and open minded when it comes to experiencing the different work habits hospitals or nursing homes may have. Most of them work differently and not all systems are the same, so always be kind to others, be patient and be flexible.
