Travel to Kansas City

Visit the Heart of America with Favorite and earn great pay.

Kansas City bills itself as the "Heart of America." The city has more boulevards than Paris and more working fountains than any city but Rome. In fact, a fountain is incorporated into the design of nearly every commercial building, giving Kansas City its second nickname: "The City of Fountains."

Another landmark of the Kansas City skyline is the Country Club Plaza. Established in 1922 and designed architecturally after Seville, Spain, the Plaza is comprised of high-end retail establishments, restaurants, and entertainment venues. It was the first shopping center in the world designed to accommodate the automobile.

In 1925 a tradition began of outlining the Plaza in colored lights to celebrate Christmas This magical time of the year, Holidays on the Plaza, is almost upon Kansas City once again. The yearly lighting ceremony includes over 80 miles of lights and regularly attracts as many as 250,000 people on Thanksgiving night.

The Country Club Plaza is ready to celebrate the 77th year of Plaza Lights. The Plaza Lighting Ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 23rd – Thanksgiving evening. The ceremony kicks off at 6pm and a fireworks display above the stage and at The Intercontinental Kansas City Hotel will conclude the ceremony.

The magic of the season continues each night when the lights come on at 5 pm, and runs through mid-January. Whether you do some Christmas shopping, take a carriage ride to take in the beauty of the lights or merely sit at one of the many cafés and watch the world, the Country Club Plaza in the fall is simply a wonderful place to be.

To make it an even more joyful holiday season, you can travel to Kansas City and earn up to $41 as an RN working for Favorite. Call us today at 1-800-755-1411 to find out about our contract assignments and we'll arrange housing in time for you to celebrate the Plaza Lights.

Accredited facilities must implement goals by January 1, 2007.

Changes Include:

  • Goal 8 regarding reconciling medications across the continuum was revised to include that a complete list of medications will be required to be provided to the patient upon discharge.
  • Goal 13 regarding patient's involvement in their own care was expanded to impact 6 more applicable programs (Ambulatory, LTC, Behavioral Health, Hospital, Critical Access Hospital, and Office-Based Surgery).

Favorite Flicks

The Newsletter Staff reviews recent movie releases.

The Guardian (Rated PG-13)
An Officer and a Gentleman meets The Perfect Storm. The Guardian depicts the Coast Guard and their life-saving mission accurately. The love stories make the movie drag, but the action keeps interest. Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher’s acting is average, but both sharpen up during the rescues. See this movie for the action and scenery.
Our Score: (2 out of 4 Stethoscopes)

Open Season (Rated PG)
Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher lend voice to the cartoon buddies in Open Season, Boog the domesticated bear and Elliot, the one-antlered bad-influence sidekick. The movie is a tale about cute and furry forest creatures banding together to fight back against the hunters that invade every year. A good time for kids.
Our Score: (2 1/2 out of 4 Stethoscopes)

The Illusionist (Rated PG-13)
In The Illusionist, Edward Norton plays Eisenheim, a magician whose tricks are so fantastic they are almost unnerving. Part romantic melodrama, part murder mystery, the movie's beautiful costuming and sets do as much for the enjoyment as does the story. Be wary of the flash and misdirection of the movie, you may not be seeing what you think you are seeing.
Our Score: (3 out of 4 Stethoscopes)
