The Newsletter Staff reviews recent movie releases.

The Da Vinci Code (Rated PG-13)
This steady paced film will satisfy most fans of Dan Brown’s book of the same name. The story may be a bit confusing for those who did not read the book as some very important details were left out or changed to soften the film’s religious impact. Paul Bettany and Ian McKellan are the true stars of this film.

Our Score:
(3 1/2 out of 4 Stethoscopes)

X-men: The Last Stand (Rated PG-13)
The Last Stand describes the discrimination and alienation from different races and the pinnacle of civil war. Packed with action, this emotional movie details the choice some mutants must make, whether or not to receive the “cure.” Controversy rages with each side having their ultimate weapon, a gun delivering the cure vs The Dark Phoenix. This movie was supposed to be the end of the series, but its ending leaves the path wide open for X-Men 4. Be sure to stay to the end of the credits.
Our Score: (4 out of 4 Stethoscopes)

Over the Hedge (Rated G)
This cute, cuddly, hyperactive animal movie is sure to bring a smile to the sci-fi fan in you. Taken from the comic strip of the same name, "Hedge" is a cartoon environmental culture clash. Spurred on by the con artist "RJ the Raccoon", a band of cute critters work together to steal human food for themselves (actually for RJ). Lessons are learned (value of family, in particular), villains are defeated and the animals survive for the inevitable sequel. Unlike many other films of this genre, the adult jokes are kept to a minimum and are much more effective for it.
Our Score: (3 1/2 out of 4 Stethoscopes)
