Travel to Oregon!

You'll want to spend some time in Oregon, so why not take a high-paying travel assignment with Favorite Nurses?

Oregon has so many places to see and activities to do that one visit won't be enough. The recreational opportunities are statewide and, because of the mild climate, most are available year round. Here are just a few of the events to attend, places to see and activities to enjoy in Oregon.

As the hub of commerce and a center of culture and education, Portland hums with activity. Most of the major cultural institutions of Oregon call Portland home--the opera, symphony, and many museums standing out. The Rose Festival in Portland is a major event that includes the Starlight Parade, Grand Floral Parade, an air show, the Indy World Series car race, a traditional rose show, and much more. Big ships are in town, and sailors are everywhere, especially at the Fun Center at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. If you’re a film buff, the Northwest Film Center produces the Portland International Film Festival every February with more than 100 films from over 30 countries.

The internationally acclaimed Oregon Shakespeare Festival is held in Lithia Park in Ashland, Oregon. Staged in three outdoor festival theaters, visitors can totally immerse themselves in jolly Olde England and Shakespeare, by seeing several plays during a week, attending drama-oriented lectures, taking backstage tours, or sitting in on theatrical discussion groups.

Crater Lake National Park, located in Klamath County, is Oregon's only National Park. The sapphire blue waters of Crater Lake are one of Oregon's most photographed sights. Take a boat ride to mysterious Wizard Island, or hike to the top of the island for an incredible view of the lake.

At 11,245 feet, Mount Hood is the perfect ski destination and so large that a number of ski resorts call it home, offering something for skiers of every level.

No matter your preference, you'll find entertainment at every turn in Oregon. With a number of available travel contracts in cities across the state, Favorite Nurses should be your next call! We take care of all the details for you, so you can truly enjoy your travel experience. Call us today at 1-800-755-1411 or email us at gotravel@favoritenurses.com.

Dana Hastings, RN, Featured in Kansas City Business Journal
Dana is a travel nurse with Favorite Nurses currently on assignment in Kansas City. She was recently featured in the Kansas City Business Journal in an article about the benefits of travel nursing. She was also named Employee of the Month for the local Favorite Nurses branch office. Congratulations Dana!

Mona Turner, RN, Participates in Medical Mission Trip in Mexico.
Mona, a Favorite Nurse from San Antonio, gave up her Christmas and New Year's holidays to go to the aid of Totonacan Indians from the mountains of Sierra Madre. Alongside a team of doctors and nurses, Mona traveled to the village of Coyutla in the state of Vera Cruz, Mexico, about 800 miles south of San Antonio. Upon arrival in Coyutla, the team built hospital and clinic settings in a school. Over a period of 6 days, more than 1,000 patients were seen and 68 surgeries were performed! Favorite Nurses considers it a true honor to employ nurses like Mona who give of their time to support a greater cause.

Your Strangest Gift?

Many people get something "unique" or just downright weird during the holidays.

Sometimes the stress of the holidays makes people a little crazy when it comes to gift-giving. Sometimes that last minute gift is the only thing left on the shelf. Have you received a present that was just a little strange? One that made you think, "Huh?" In good-natured fun, we'd like to publish stories of the weirdest gift you've received. Send your story to newsletter@favoritenurses.com. Don't worry - we won't use your name!
