Finding
Mountains, Glaciers and Icebergs in Kansas!

The
Favorite Staffing' Kansas City branch proves
our resourcefulness in finding interesting and exciting non-traditional
assignments.
Tammy,
a Registered Nurse working for the Kansas City
branch office,
shares her experience.
I
began an assignment with Favorite Staffing to "do something
different". I have been a nurse for a long time and have had
the pleasure of working in many direct patient care areas, as well
as nontraditional nursing fields. When I received the call from
the KC office, I was not sure this was going to be for me, but
I needed something to fill in my time while my case management
job grew.
I
started working for Favorite Staffing at an accounting firm which
had
a new contract with the State of Alaska to provide
audits of Medicaid providers. When I first started, I could not
imagine how I could transform everything that happens in healthcare
and compress it into a spreadsheet or report! I also am a die
hard "summer and/or beach" person so the initial thought
of traveling to Alaska was not that appealing! Boy was I wrong!
I traveled to Alaska several times between July and October and
fell in love with the awesome beauty. I met wonderful people
in many types of facilities. The fill-in job is now my full-time
career. I am expanding my horizons as new contracts are entered.
This year will again bring the opportunity to work in Alaska,
but
also to venture in new directions with other states.
I
am so glad that I returned the phone call! Favorite Staffing
does "keep
nurses in nursing," even if the nursing is nontraditional!
Thanks again,
Tammy A. RN, CPAN, CPSN

Daylight
Saving Time

Remember
to "spring forward" by one hour this Sunday, April 3rd.
Daylight Saving Time begins for most of the United States at
2 a.m. on the first Sunday of April. Clocks should be set forward
one hour to 3 a.m. The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time is
to make better use of daylight.
We change
our clocks
during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning
to the evening.
The idea of daylight saving was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin
in 1784. In the U.S., the changeover time was chosen to be 2 am,
when most people are at home and, originally, the time when the
fewest trains
were running.
Not all of the U.S. observes Daytlight Saving Time. Hawaii,
American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the
Virgin
Islands, most of the Eastern Time Zone portion of the State of
Indiana, and the state of Arizona (not the Navajo Indian Reservation,
which does observe) do not participate.
If
you're in an area that recognizes Daylight Saving Time, set your
clocks forward one hour this Sunday, April 3rd!
