So much of what makes America great began in South Carolina.

Travel to South CarolinaEffective February 1st, Favorite Staffing has been named a vendor of South Carolina Healthcare Resources with access to the travel nurse needs of over 100 hospitals, including dozens of members of the South Carolina Hospital Association and neighboring state associations. Due to this new business relationship, we are currently seeking RNs for all shifts and all areas.

On the other side are the joys of the present: luxurious resorts, sandy beaches and a wide selection of first-class golf courses. Those longing for culturally enhanced arts and entertainment should enjoy the tremendous opportunities across the state, including the Newberry Opera House and the outdoor theaters of the foothills.

Tips for Safe Winter Driving

The leading cause of death during winter storms is driving related accidents.

Many accidents could be avoided if drivers followed these tips for driving safely, provided by the Discount Driving School, when it is snowing and roads are icy.

1. Perhaps the worst danger is "black ice," which forms on roads and bridges and is almost invisible. It is usually caused by snow that melts and refreezes. Since black ice is hard to see, drivers go over it at normal speeds, resulting often in very serious accidents. Always be alert to the possibility of black ice when temperatures are near or below freezing. Remember: temperatures may be slightly above freezing, but roadways over bridges and overpasses still may have lower temperatures, especially at night and in the early morning hours.

2. The distance required to stop can triple during slippery conditions. Driving at a slower speed, anticipating stops at traffic lights and intersections, and applying brakes sooner than normal will help prevent accidents. Slow down and always allow plenty of extra space between your vehicle and other vehicles to minimize the need for quick stops.

3. Acceleration, turning, and passing can be dangerous during winter conditions. Accelerate slowly to avoid loss of traction and possible loss of control. Turn slowly to avoid sliding and skidding. Avoid sudden changes of direction or movements. Pass with care. Again, leave extra space between yourself and other vehicles so there's room to maneuver in case something goes wrong. During a skid, steer cautiously in the direction you want the car to go.
